MIRI: Maskabi Kabar outperformed seven other contenders to claim the inaugural Mr Festival crown here over the weekend.

The reigning Mr Miri champion impressed the judges during the showdown held at the Senadin Water Theme Park project site on Sunday, which also hosted this year’s Giant Fancy Kite Carnival.

The 33-year-old hospital personnel walked away with RM1,000.

Placing second was flyweight Azri Asmat Sefri who received RM700, while seasoned bodybuilder Mohd Rashidi Abdullah bagged RM400 for finishing third.

The other contestants – Jacob Jinggut Vincent, Yeo Kah Hui, Terry Oh, Donald Thomas and Johnny Wong Sing Foung – did not go home empty-handed as each received RM100 and consolation prizes.

The competition was conducted by Miri Bodybuilding Association (PBBBM), in collaboration with carnival organiser Vision Entertainment Group.

Prizes were presented by Dayang Enterprise deputy executive chairman Datuk James Ling, who was accompanied on stage by PBBBM president Jamilah Ibrahim and Vision Entertainment director Ten Chu Kiong, organising chairman of the carnival.
