KUCHING: Kuchingites are invited to catch a sneak peek of what’s to come at the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2015 as The Spring Management Services and Sarawak Tourism Board are bringing three amazing musical talents to perform at the Centre Court of tHe Spring Shopping Mall from 7.30pm onwards today.

The three world music acts that are set to entertain the shoppers tonight will be Harubee from Maldives, Shooglenifty from Scotland and Sarawak’s very own gem of a band, Sayu Ateng.

The Sarawakian eigh-piece band has been around in the local music scene for over 17 years. Their first performance at the RWMF was back in 1999 and now Sayu Ateng is back again to perform at the festival for the fifth time.

Kuchingites can expect a medley of contemporary pop sound textures and World Beat Music with a touch of refreshingly modern yet full of traditional Sarawak flavour at the preview.

Another act not to be missed is Harubee which features 16 charismatic young men from Maldives who are just exploding with energy.

Their performance combines various styles that are all deeply influenced by their mutual love of Boduberu music which usually includes three drummers and a lead singer as they drum and dance frenetically, crescendo-ing into immense passionate climaxes.

Performing for the first time at tHe Spring and their fourth time at the RWMF is Scotland’s Acid croft pioneers, Shooglenifty, as they continue to celebrate their 25th anniversary by entertaining the crowd in Borneo with their upbeat yet exquisite traditional sounding tunes of their homelands fused with devilishly dirty rhythms.

tHe Spring Shopping Mall is excited to host such a unique preview as the management believes in bringing arts, music and culture into the mall.

The preview of world music reflects the different aspects of shopping and is part of the many facets and elements of fashion, lifestyle and glamour.

For shoppers whose love for world music has been sparked through the festival’s preview and want more than a sliver of what was presented at tHe Spring’s preview, they will be pleased to know that they can purchase their last minute tickets to the RWMF from Sarawak Tourism Board’s booth also located at the Centre Court of tHe Spring.
