KUCHING: Sarawak will always stand by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his new deputy, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said this was because Najib was always very supportive of the state and had been a very regular visitor.

He said this in his speech at a Hari Raya gathering organised by Rela at the Sarawak Indoor Stadium, here last night.

“Najib with his regular visits had brought billions of ringgit worth of projects. I am sure he will continue to bring in more.

“I am also certain Ahmad Zahid will do the same. He was appointed the deputy premier 10 days ago and today he is already visiting us,” he said.

Adenan said the regular visits indicated Najib had great confidence in the state.

“He has, for example, appointed seven Sarawakians as full ministers and many others, as well as deputy ministers in his cabinet and this is unprecedented.

“As such he deserves our every support,” he said.

Adenan said come the next state election, he hoped the people would once again support the state Barisan Nasional government to win with very handsome majority.

“We have always delivered and we will continue to deliver, come rain or shine,” he said.

He also said although Sarawak had seen a lot of progress and development, its rural areas in particular still needed more basic infrastructure and amenities.

“This is the area where we hope the federal government will continue to assist us,” he added. — Bernama
