Kotabaru to be city of business and finance

KOTABARU, South Kalimantan: Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, become one of the 10 regions in Indonesia to be a business and financial city designated by the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), Antaranews reported.

Secretary of New City Planning and Development Coordination Team (TKP2KB) of the Bappenas Zainal Arifin in Kotabaru on Monday said Pamukan will be design as Singapore of Indonesia, with the reason Kotabaru has ideal potential to become the city of business and financial.

“The plan to actualised Kotabaru as a business and financial city will be in the next 100 years,” said Zainal.

To realize the plan, which will be centered in the Pamukan, the government requires 30,000 hectares of land. The land area is much larger than the Sentul City, Bogor, covering an area of ​​3,700 ha or one-eighth of Kotabaru, Bumi Serpong Damai, South Tangerang, covering an area of ​​6,000 ha, or fifth of Kotabaru, Bandung, West Java, covering an area of ​​16,000 ha or half of Kotabaru.

The 30,000 ha of land is projected to be a shelter for five million people in the new development area.

To support Kotabaru as a business and financial city, the government will build an international port transportation system in Lontar, West Pulaulaut, and supported by collector port in Kotabaru and Stagen, North Pulautlaut, as well as on the island of Sebuku.

The government also will build a feeder port in Gunung Batu Besar, Sub-district of Sampanahan. Local Feeder port in Tanjung Samalantakan, Sub-district of South Pamukan. International Airport in Langadai, Sub-district of Kelumpang Hilir.

Consideration to design as the location of the business and financial city, including its strategic location in the middle of Indonesia and in the Indonesian Archipelagic Sea Lanes Line (ALKI) II, and synergy with locations in Java and Bali.

It is close to Asia Pacific and Australia, relatively empty land, land ownership status in the form of Hak Guna Usaha (HGU/land cultivation permits), close to the source of raw water and electrical energy, the physical carrying capacity is in the secure area from earthquake and tsunami, as well as the potential for equitable development and a multiplier effect in Southeast Kalimantan Section.

The direction of development of the city is divided into four sub-region town (Raising, Business and Transportation, Education, and Housing) and break it down further into 12 parcels function.
