KUALA LUMPUR: 1Malaysia Development Berhad said DAP member of parliament Tony Pua is recycling allegations which the company has addressed.

“We note that YB Tony Pua has yet again recycled various allegations, which have in fact been answered by 1MDB since January 2015 via 48 press announcements that can be easily obtained on our website,” 1MDB president and executive director Arul Kanda said yesterday.

“In addition, the Auditor-General has presented an interim report answering many of the questions raised in early July 2015 to the Public Accounts Committee, of which Pua is a member, and has committed to issuing a final report by the end of 2015.

“Tony Pua is no doubt aware that 1MDB is the most investigated company in Malaysia,” he added in a statement.

Pua had pressed him to prove his claim that 1MDB was an “open book” by answering questions about the company’s dealings.

Arul Kanda said the company had shared and would continue to share all relevant information with the “lawful investigating authorities”– the Auditor-General, Attorney-General, Bank Negara Malaysia, the police, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the PAC.

“Their independent, thorough and professional investigations are the appropriate forum to determine the truth about 1MDB,” he said.

“A trial by certain media or by certain opposition politicians, outside of due process and the requirements of the law, will not benefit anyone.”

Arul Kanda said that 1MDB was very much focused on the implementation of its rationalisation plan, which was going full steam ahead.

“We are committed to stabilising the company, meeting our debt obligations and delivering strategic projects of national importance: TRX (Tun Razak Exchange), Bandar Malaysia and Edra Energy Berhad,” he said. — Bernama
