KOTA KINABALU: The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism has confiscated imitation branded goods worth about RM2,940 here on Thursday.

Its deputy director, Yahya Sujak, said among the branded goods confiscated were 44 Louis Vuitton (LV) handbags and 10 Levi’s clothing.

“The 8pm raid was carried out at a shopping complex in the city centre after we received information of imitation goods are being sold to the public.

“Investigation also believed the replica goods were imported from China,” he said at a press conference here yesterday.

The case is being investigated under Section 5 (1) (b) of the Trade Description Act 2011.

In a similar case, 446 copies of pirated DVDs and VCDs were also confiscated by personnel in a similar raid.

Yahya said the operation was carried out at a shopping mall here and the seized items were estimated to worth RM2,230.

He added that the case would be investigated under the Copyright Act 1987 and Optical Disc Label 2011.
