KUCHING: The Federal Territory Sports Council (FTSC) paid a courtesy call on Sukma XVIII Secretariat at the State Indoor Stadium in Petra Jaya yesterday and came away impressed with the on-going progress in hosting next year’s games.

“We are impressed with the ongoing preparation and certainly looking forward to coming here next year,” said FTSC director Mohd Razlan Rafii during the press conference held after the briefing session organised in conjunction with their visit.

According to Razlan, they have heard so much about Sarawak and they were equally impressed with the local hospitality in their brief stay in Kuching.

“We have no doubt that the hospitality of Sarawakians and the facilities are equally impressive in view of the different venues for the staging of the various sports,” he said.

Meanwhile, the briefing on Sukma XVIII was conducted by State Secretariat’s coordinator Affandi Keli who said more state representatives are expected to come calling.

“So far we have received visits from our counterparts from Perak and Federal Territory…more are expected to come including those from Pahang who will be coming in next week,” he enthused on the keen interest shown on Sukma 2016 (July 22-31).

Affandi also announced that upgrading works on the sports venues and facilities for Sukma 2016 are still underway and are expected to be completed on schedule.
