KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will take part in the 2015 National Day celebration in Penang after all.

ATM chief Gen Tan Sri Zulkifli Mohd Zin, when contacted by Bernama, said ATM would take part in the procession after the Penang state government withdrew the state-level national day celebration theme and adopted the national theme.

Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said PDRM would also take part in the celebration.

“Okay, we will join the parade,” he said.

Zulkifeli and Khalid were commenting on the decision of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng who announced the withdrawal of the state level national day celebration theme of ‘Bersih, Cekap, Amanah’.

The controversy erupted when the state government refused to use the 58th national day celebration’s theme ‘One heart, one soul’ picked by the Federal Government. — Bernama
