KUCHING: The fully-clothed body of an unidentified man was found floating near the Kuching Waterfront jetty here yesterday.

A jogger spotted the body at around 8am and notified the authorities.

According to sources, the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained as there were no identification documents on him.

It is believed that the body of the victim had been in the river for more than two days due to the state of decomposition.

The deceased was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a post mortem and police are investigating the case.

In a separate incident, a 52-year-old woman who attempted to take her own life was saved by her family members at her house along Jalan Mambong Sarig here.

It was claimed that she had tried to take her own life with a wire hanging from the ceiling but was stopped in the act by her family members.

They sent her to the hospital where a nurse immediately notified the police.

Her condition was reported to be stable and she is currently undergoing treatment.
