LIMBANG: A convoy programme, organised by the Road Transport Department (RTD) in celebration of this year’s Merdeka Day, has entered the second leg of its journey from Lawas to Kuching.

Bikers and drivers taking part in the state-level ‘Kembara Kasih Merdeka 2015’ left for Miri from here yesterday. The tour was kicked off in Lawas on Sunday.

Second Resource Planning and Environment Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan was present to flag off the group here.

The ceremony was also witnessed by Assistant Minister in Chief Minister’s Office (Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development) Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Limbang MP Hasbi Habibolah, Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong, Bukit Kota assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, state RTD director Ibrahim Othman and Limbang Resident Maria Hasman.

The convoy, which comprises 40 vehicles including 20 motorcycles, includes participants from Squad Muda 1JPJ and local non-governmental organisations.

According to acting Limbang RTD chief Julaihi Dison, the statewide tour will conclude in Kuching this Aug 29, where there will be a welcoming ceremony to which Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem has been invited to officiate at.
