KUCHING: The Sarawak4Sarawakians movement is not a tool for self-promotion or political mileage, said Peter John Jaban, one of the organisers of last month’s Sarawak Independence Day rally.

Peter John was responding to earlier reports of a formation called Calon Independent Alliance (CIA) comprising people associated with S4S headed by former DAP member and Pujut assemblyman Fong Pau Teck during a press conference held at Telang Usan.

“It is because of this that I dare to challenge Fong Pau Teck to throw his support behind Bersih on Aug 29,” he stated, “Having been ejected from DAP, he seems to be a politician in search of a platform and it seems like any platform will do.”

Peter clarified that the organisers do not claim they own the ideology behind S4S.

“S4S is an aspiration, an expression of the people of Sarawak for the future of their state,” he said. “You are welcome to campaign as CIA or FBI or whatever they choose, but not to capitalise on the hard work of others.”
