SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali continued to keep mum on the operational status of Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG) which has roused the concern of numerous quarters.

Met by reporters after chairing a meeting of the Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) here yesterday, he only said that he had answered questions on the entity which was set up to manage the investments of the subsidiaries of Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI), during the State Assembly sitting recently.

“I have answered in the State Assembly on the matter. Look at my handouts,” he said.

During the State Assembly sitting last week, Mohamed Azmin was reported to have said DEIG was set up to solely focus on the investment, asset and commercial sectors.

He said the entity which was fully owned by MBI was also created to reduce the impact and risks of commerce on the State Government.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Azmin said the purchase of raw water from Pahang via the Pahang-Selangor Raw Water Transfer Project (PPAMPS) was the State Government’s effort to ensure supply could meet the needs of the people until the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (Langat 2) is fully completed in 2019.

He said although the administration of the previous menteri besar refused to do so, he adopted the approach in the interest of the people.

“The Langat 2 agreement was made several years ago but it cannot be completed fully by 2017 as promised, but in 2019.

“So, we now must ensure during the period (work on Langat 2), there is ample water supply for the people,” he said.

Mohamed Azmin also added that the State Government would also submit the initiatives and planning which would be carried out on the issue of water, during the tabling of the 2016 Selangor Budget, at the end of the year. — Bernama
