MIRI: Police arrested an unruly man early Wednesday morning for brandishing a knife at terrified members of the public at Pelita Commercial centre here.

A mobile police vehicle (MPV) responded to a distress call after the suspect in his 20s took off his clothes and brandished the knife.

Terrified members of the public ran away while one of them called the police who came and found a knife in the man’s possession after a bodily search.

The suspect was then brought to the central police station here around 9am.

According to police source, the suspect was a cobbler.

In an unrelated incident, MPV personnel apprehended two men after receiving a report of suspicious activity at a house in Pujut 1 here on Thursday morning.

According to sources, MPV personnel were called to the scene around 11.30am after two men, aged 27 and 45, were seen entering a house, with intent to steal.

They were brought to the central police station here for further questioning.
