KOTA KINABALU: The police will take action against those who disregard the advice not to attend the outlawed Bersih 4 rally scheduled to be held at the Taman Awam Teluk Likas tomorrow.
Kota Kinabalu City police chief, ACP M. Chandra said there was a risk the rally might affect public safety in the event an untoward incident was provoked by rally participants.
“If the rally is held, it will have a negative impact on public order, in particular to the traffic, and inconvenience visitors to the park,” he said in a statement here today.
Chandra said action could be taken under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA) the organisers and under Section 4 (2) (c) of the same Act against those participating in the rally.
Both relevant sections provide for a fine of up to RM10,000, upon conviction.-Bernama
