SIBU: Sibu Golf Club (SGC) president Datuk Dr Soon Choon Teck led his officials to pay a courtesy call on the commander of Ninth Malaysian Infantry Brigade, Brigadier-General Abdul Rahim Sebeli at the Ninth Brigade headquarters here last Tuesday.

Brigadier-General Abdul Rahim Sebeli and the former commander Brigadier-General Dato Muhammad Daniel @ Damien Abdullah — whom the former replaced in November last year — are both natives of Sibu and keen golfers.

Dr Soon said it was the tradition of Sibu GC to appoint the Ninth Brigade commander as honorary president of SGC and the courtesy call was to introduce the committee line-up to him as well as to invite him for a game.

“There are always many good golfers in the Armed Forces and Police and SGC has always maintained a cordial relationship and close rapport with them,” he pointed out.

Accompanying the president were deputy president Ting Siew Hock and vice president Lau Hie Ping, both of whom are also acting captains of SGC.

Others present included Dato Thomas Tieng, Roland Ha, Peter Chiong, Tang Kah Wei and Ting Ping Hoo.
