KUCHING: Those donning yellow T-shirts with the unmistakable ‘Bersih 4’ sign imprinted on them are considered to have committed an illegal act, following a gazetted order by the Home Affairs Ministry.

According to the Attorney General Chamber website the order signed by Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, states that in exercise of the powers conferred by Subsection 7(1) of Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984, the ministry prohibits the printing, importation, production and reproduction, publishing, sale and issue, circulation, distribution or possession of the ‘publication’ — namely the T-shirts, which is likely to be prejudicial to public order, security, contrary to any law and national interest.

“This order may be cited as the Printing Presses and Publications (Control of Undesirable Publications) (No 22) Order 2015, which comes into operation on Aug 28 (yesterday).

“The schedule covers any yellow-coloured clothing that contains the words ‘Bersih 4’,” it said in the order issued last night.

The ministry said the schedule also included printed materials.

“These include printed materials and pamphlets that lead to Bersih 4 rally.”

The two-day Bersih 4.0 assembly kicks off today, with the Song Kheng Hai Ground near Jalan Padungan being the venue here.
