TA01205SIBU: The fifth edition of The Borneo Post (BP) Run 2015, the biggest run here with some 2,500 runners, is all set to go tomorrow.

The first time it was held in 2011, the run attracted some 600 runners before climbing to 800 the following year.

It eventually rose further to 1,000 in 2013 and leapt to about 1,600 runners last year.

In an interview after officiating at the SBFM Industries Sdn Bhd’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri ‘Ramah Tamah’ here recently, See Hua Group chief operating officer Temenggong Vincent Lau Lee Ming said he was delighted with the overwhelming support.

Lau said that if they could hit the 2,500 mark, it would be a very substantial jump in participation.

Meanwhile, the registration at Sibu Town Square Phase 1 will be held from 6.15am to 7.15am on Aug 31.

Lau, who is the guest of honour and other invited guests, comprising Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia) Berhad’s corporate communications senior manager Joe Wong and regional sales manager (East Malaysia) Billy Chin are expected to arrive at 7.15am.

The opening speech will be delivered by Lau.

Sapphira Fitness Centre will lead the warming up exercise from 7.30am to 7.45am.

This will be followed by participants of the 8km and 4km categories assembling at the starting point.

The run is divided into five categories – the 8km Men’s Open, (category A), Ladies’ Open (category B), Boy’s Junior (category E), Girl’s Junior (category F) and the 4km Fun Run (category V).

Lau will flag off the run at 7.45am and will be joined by Wong and all the invited guests.

Wong is expected to deliver the closing remarks at around 9am.

The prize presentation for the first five winners from each category will follow suit.

The event will culminate with a lucky draw.
