BUKIT MERTAJAM: The formation of Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) has been expected and will not affect support for PAS, said PAS Information chief Nasrudin Hassan Tantawi.
He said the decision by 18 PAS leaders to leave the party and form GHB would not affect the party which would remain relevant in the country’s political landscape.
“I cannot deny that two or three individuals who leave the party will definitely have an impact on PAS as they have been with the party for a long time.
“But I am confident PAS is evergreen,” he said after a meeting with state PAS members here yesterday.
Nasrudin said the setting up of a new party was already anticipated about two months before the party election was held last June. — Bernama
