LAHAD DATU: Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Rosnah Abdu Rashid Shirlin was disappointed that former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had attended the Bersih 4.0 rally in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

She said although the former prime minister had stated that he was not supporting the rally but his presence had given recognition to the event.

“I am disappointed but I will always respect him as he is a great leader and contribute a lot to the country,” she said after officiating the Silam Umno delegates meeting yesterday.

Rosnah hoped that Mahathir will hold on to what he had fought for and the leaders in the country would remain united.

“Every member of Umno should play their role and carry out their responsibility, especially when the party is facing any issue or crisis.

The members should be responsible in further strengthening the unity among the members.

“Party members should also be wise in assessing any issue.

When the party is having a crisis such as the current leadership crisis, do not become the judge and pass a sentence without any trial or explanation,” said Rosnah who is also the Papar member of parliament.

Meanwhile, Silam Umno Division head Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal in his speech urged the Umno members to stay loyal to the party and further strengthen the unity.

He said Umno had faced various challenges under different leaders, but the party remained strong because of the unity of the members and this should be continued.

“Umno was established to fight for the religion, race and the country as well as to get independence for the country.

We have already achieved the goal, but we must continue to unite to maintain our independence.

“Understand the meaning of our fights in the party and be wise in assessing any issue or crisis faced by the party.

Do not simply judge without knowing the truth,” he added.

Also present was Kinabatangan Umno vice chief Pangeran Aziz Pangeran Damsah.
