KUCHING: Malaysians are urged to understand the meaning of the slogan ‘Sehati Sejiwa’ for this year’s National Day celebration.

According to Samariang assemblywoman Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, they need to rally their support behind the government in the current uncertain political and economic situation, not resort to opposition tactics to topple the government.

“The true message of the slogan is for everyone to have a common voice and belief while standing for peace and harmony.”

Sharifah Hasidah said this at the closing of ‘Kembara Kasih Merdeka Negeri Sarawak’ at Kubah Ria on Saturday.

She said Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satin had used the best formula under his administration and had repeatedly urged people to rally behind him for their benefit.

“He is a chief minister who knows his cards well and we should all stand behind him during these times.”

Hasidah said the policy of the state government had always

been put before the people and decisions made were not to oppress them.

Meanwhile state Road Transport Department (RTD) director Ibrahim Othman said the participation of ‘Skuad Muda 1JPJ’ in the programme was a statement of the department’s commitment to social responsibility.

A convoy of 50 high powered motorcycles with 500 participants were in the Kuching leg on Saturday, having started from Limbang on Aug 23.
