KUCHING: It was ‘business as usual’ during a police operation ‘Ops Bersepadu’ on National Day eve, with a total of 69 summonses issued for traffic offences.

Kuching police chief ACP Roslan Bek Ahmad said the operation, from 1am until it was stood down at 3am due to heavy rain, had focused on several locations identified as hot spots including Kuching Waterfront and Masja in Petrajaya.

During the operation, checks were conducted on about 467 vehicles and 556 individuals during roadblocks which were also set up at certain main roads for motorcycles and cars checking.

Roslan said that more than 200 police personnel and officers took part in the operation which was extended from the Op Aman Bersih 4.0 rally which was called off early.

“As the rally was called off early, those who had been assigned continued with the Ops Bersepadu for crime prevention during the National Day eve,” he said.

Earlier, during the briefing held at state police headquarters, he commended the hardwork and commitment of his men during Op Aman.

As a reward, he announced that they will be given unrecorded leave.

Also present was Kuching district traffic and public order chief DSP Amihizam Abdul Shukor.
