SIBU: The Borneo Post Run 2015 yesterday was a stunner when some 2,200 people forwent their rest day (National Day) to grease their joints and have fun doing it.

Even the weather was impeccable when See Hua Group’s chief operating officer (COO) Temenggong Vincent Lau flagged off the race at 7.45am at Sibu Town Square Phase 1.

This annual run is organised by The Borneo Post, with Yeo Hiap Seng Trading Sdn Bhd as its main sponsor.

It was divided into five categories; 8km Men’s Open, Ladies’ Open, Boy’s Junior and Girl’s Junior, and 4km Fun Run.

From Sibu Town Square Phase 1, the runners for all categories headed straight to Bujang Suntong Road, turned into Tun Abang Haji Openg Road, Awang Ramli Amit Road, Sg Antu Roundabout and Awang Ramli Amit Road before turning into Bujang Suntong Road again and back to where they started.

This year’s edition attracted some 2,200 runners. In the inaugural run in 2011, there were some 600 runners. The figure climbed to 800 in 2012, 1,000 in 2013 and 1,600 last year.
