Sabahans dominate in Labuan Merdeka Run

LABUAN: The Merdeka Run 2015 yesterday drew participation from all walks of life to join in the eight-kilometer run, in conjunction with the National Day celebration.

There were four categories for adults in the run, namely the men open category, the women open, veteran men and veteran women.

In the men open, a participant from Kota Kinabalu, Fabian Osmond Daimon was the champion, while second place was won by Wincentrert Latius also from Kota Kinabalu, and Zahar Ismail in third from Malacca, who is with the armed forces.

In the women open category, the first to third places were won by participants from Kota Kinabalu, namely Kona Liau, Chong Vun Lung and Stephanie Chunk.

In the veteran men category, Yusop Tungkob from Tenom captured the first place followed by Guianus Salagan from Kota Kinabalu and Lee Kim Hing from Miri in third place.

In the veteran women category, Su Chong Yeong from Papar was the winner, while Ceulia Ang from Labuan and Christina Daramat from Kota Kinabalu won second and third places, respectively.

There were other categories for junior and senior boys and girls.

Present to hand over the prizes to the winners were Labuan member of parliament Datuk Rozman Isli and the patron of Labuan Amateur Athletics Association, Datuk Harris Annuar Tan.
