PUTARJAYA: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) will respond to any corruption issue or perception that may be raised during the International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) 2015, beginning today, with facts.
MACC deputy commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Mustafa Ali said the agency would define the approaches taken by MACC and the Malaysian government in preventing corruption effectively.
“We will present facts and the efforts we made to combat corruption including collaboration with international networks,” he told a media conference yesterday in conjunction with the conference.
He pointed out that the MACC was not only an independent organisation, but also carried out its responsibilities transparently and professionally in accordance with the legal provisions.
Mustafa also disclosed that Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem would be sharing his experience during the conference on the state government’s commitment and measures to eliminate corruption in the forestry industry.
Meanwhile, Mustafa said the 16th edition of the IACC, themed ‘Ending Impunity: People, Integrity,Action’, was jointly run by MACC and IACC consultative council, Transparency International and Transparency International Malaysia.
About 1,000 participants from more than 130 countries are expected to attend the conference to be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre from Sept 2 to 4. — Bernama
