MIRI: Hanafiah Besar emerged as Nett event champion to lift the 9th Seri Dewa Golf Championship Trophy yesterday.

The Brunei senior golfer with handicap-15 won with an overall score of 64.

Meanwhile, Dennis Koh with handicap 7 took the Gross event with a 77.

Organiser Dato Jofri Abdullah was delighted with the fine weather during the the one-day tournament at the Eastwood Golf Valley and Country Club course here.

“We are happy the turn-out at the event was more than the initial targeted especially when this is the first time the tournament was held outside Brunei,” he said yesterday.

A total of 84 golfers from Brunei took part in seven categories for the championship.

The annual Brunei tournament was aimed promoting a healthy lifestyle particularly for golfer aged over 50.

It was organised by Brunei Darussalam Association of Senior Golfers under the sponsorship of Pehin Major General (Rtd) Dato Mohammad Daud.
