KOTA KINABALU: Pro-Barisan Nasional (Pro-BN) wants the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) to investigate an incident where several individuals were seen stepping on a photo of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the Bersih 4.0 in Kuala Lumpur.

Pro-BN Sabah president Zulkarnain Mahdar said the incident allegedly happened during the Bersih 4.0 rally in Kuala Lumpur where a woman participant was seen stepping on the photo of Najib together with PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang.

The participant even went to the extreme by laying ‘flower for the dead’ next to the photo before stepping on it.

“We believe the incident was deliberate to cause provocation, including racial and religious sentiment among the people of Malaysia,” he told a press conference at the Karamunsing police station here yesterday.

According to Zulkarnain, several police reports had been lodged by their counterparts in Peninsular Malaysia pertaining to the incident.

“I was also made to understand that Sabah PAS members had also lodged police reports on the incident.

“They are also seeking the relevant authorities to take immediate action.

“Although Pro-BN and PAS have different political ideology, here in Sabah, we always respect one another regardless of our race, religion or political belief,” said Zulkarnain.
