Police have not received application to hold rally on Sept 16

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have not received any application to hold a rally on Sept 16, which is Malaysia Day.

Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa said if the rally were to be held in Bukit Bintang, strict action would be taken under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

“The police always take precautionary measures and keep tabs if there is a rally,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

The gathering or ‘Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu’, said to be participated by UMNO and PAS members as an act of solidarity against Bersih 4 participants who allegedly stomped on a picture of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak with PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Information regarding the rally has gone viral via Whatsapp and local blogs today.

The rally is planned to be held for 12 hours starting from noon with all the participants wearing red shirts. — BERNAMA
