PORT KLANG: Police will summon former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for questioning soon, in relation to his statements at the Bersih 4 rally.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the statesman’s speech would be examined, including his claim that there were Umno division chiefs who had been taking bribes.

“Besides Tun (Dr Mahathir), the police will call all the key figures of the illegal rally, including Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, for questioning,” he told reporters after attending the 68th Marine Police Day celebration here
yesterday.

Khalid said Bersih 4 organiser should be responsible for racial sentiments raised during the rally as police had warned earlier that such action should not be allowed.

He said the organisers had been reminded that action would be taken against them according to the law if there were any breach of rules during the two-day rally held over the weekend.

In another development, Khalid said police were hunting down individuals who stepped on the pictures of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the rally.

“Anyone who have information about the individuals need to come forward so that we can take action against them,” he said.

Khalid said the act of stepping on pictures of leaders was not the culture of Malaysians.

He also slammed the participants, including political leaders, who brought children to the rally and endangered their safety.

They could be acted upon, he said. — Bernama
