BEAUFORT: A motorcyclist died after a four-wheel-drive vehicle knocked him down at Km 11, Beaufort-Sipitang Road, near Kampung Batu 9, on Tuesday.
Ngam Lai Kheng, 56, from Kampung Bukau, Beaufort, passed away while being brought to the district hospital.
It is learnt that the victim was on his way home from Kampung Lumadan when a Toyota Hilux knocked the victim’s motorcycle from behind around 7.40pm.
Meanwhile, district police chief DSP Azmir Abd Razak, when contacted said the victim succumbed to his injuries on the way to the district hospital in an ambulance.
Azmir said the victim’s body was taken for a post-mortem while family members had been notified of the incident.
He added that police had detained the 23-year-old driver to assist police investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
