Nine people died from TB in Tabalong

TANJUNG, South Kalimantan: Data of Tabalong District Health Agency mentioned nine people died from lung tuberculosis (TB) in six community health centers from January to June 2015, Antaranews Kalimantan reported.
Coordinator of communicable disease control at the local Health Agency Ahiruddin in Tanjung said Wednesday lung TB patient who died recorded in Puskesmas (community health center) Tanta, Muara Harus, Murung Pudak, Muara Uya, Jaro and Hikun.

“Patients with smear-positive pulmonary TB in Tabalong as many as 78 people starting from January to June 2015, while patients died from the disease were nine,” said Ahiruddin.

Of the total 78 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis Bacillus acid (BTA), the most were at Pugaan community health center with the number of patients 12 and 11 patients of the Hikun community health center.

Ahiruddin adding the results of pulmonary TB program activities by the Health Agency, a treatment success rate reached 87.4 percent or as many as 55 people.

In order to improve communicable disease prevention programs such as pulmonary tuberculosis, Tabalong health offices provide technical guidance in the village of Kambitin Raya, Sub-district of Tanjung. This activity was followed by village officials and health workers.
