KUCHING: After debuting on the Malaysian Muslimah fashion scene almost a year ago, Hidaya International (Hidaya) will be showcasing its Wanderlust collection at Hilton Hotel here Sept 6 from 1.30pm to 5pm.

The Wanderlust collection is the second collection by this homegrown brand founded by Toh Puan Seri Hidayah Wan Ismail which designs and produces abayas and accessories. The fashion line is also born from her desire to become an advocate of a modern Muslim lifestyle.

“We have had very good response in Kuala Lumpur to both the Amira collection and the Wanderlust collection since we launched the brand last August. We are planning to open a store in Bangsar sometime next year. But in the mean time we will continue to do tea parties and trunkshows around the country with our ‘Glambassadors’,” said head of operations Fiona Ross.

The chosen Glambassador for Hidaya in Kuching is Persatuan Rakan Bestnye Sarawak (RBS), a local association focused on activities and programmes for the youth.

The Wanderlust collection exemplifies Hidaya’s desire to travel and see the world. This is evident in the names chosen for these abayas, namely, Versailles, Trevi and Athena, to name a few.

Hidaya has also paid homage to her mother’s home country, Egypt, with pieces named Luxor, Helipolis and Alexandria.

“I am excited about this collection because it has something for everybody. There is the Louvre abaya, which is very simple and minimalist. It is made of pleats throughout the abaya and prioritises comfort. Function without compromising form, and there is the Versailles and the Venezia which is made up of two layers of silk chiffon and finished with French lace and heavy Swarovski crystals, suitable to be worn to high functions.”
