Low fares for AirAsia’s KL to Goa routes

KUCHING: AirAsia Bhd (AirAsia) recently launched a three times weekly direct flights from Kuala Lumpur (KL) to Goa, India. In conjunction with the launching of the new route, AirAsia in a press statement said the airline has came out with a promotional base fares from as low as RM12 one way.

AirAsia outlined that the promotional base fares quoted are for one-way travel only excluding taxes and fees with terms and conditions apply.

The airline added the promotional fares are applicable for booking until September 6 for travel period from September 7 until November 30 subject to availability on its web portal, airasia.com as well as AirAsia’s mobile app on iPhone and Android devices and the mobile site mobile.airasia.com.

AirAsia noted the commencement of the new route from KL to Goa, which saw the inaugural flight took off on August 27, signified AirAsia’s second new route into India in 2015, following the launch and commencement of Kuala Lumpur – Visakhapatnam earlier this year.

The airline observed that the new route also marked the eighth direct flight connecting Malaysia and India after direct flights to other cities in India which include Kolkata, Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Bengaluru, Kochi, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

AirAsia Group’s chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said,“Goa is a destination very close to my heart, as my father had Goan roots.

“But above that, Goa itself is an amazing place to visit and AirAsia is proud to be the only airline that connects Kuala Lumpur directly to Goa, India, making this the sixth unique route we’ve introduced in 2015 itself.

“Our commitment is to provide the best connectivity for everyone across the region and the introduction of this unique route signifies that commitment.

“Furthermore, it will now be much more convenient for travellers to visit India with the introduction of e-Tourist Visa on Arrival for 113 nationals including Malaysians.

“We welcome this move as it will definitely encourage more people to choose India as their travel destination,” Fernandes said.

Meanwhile, as part of AirAsia’s continuous effort to enhance connectivity into India, the airline disclosed that flight frequencies from KL – Kochi has also been increased from 10 times weekly to 14 times weekly effective November 19.

Additionally, AirAsia observed that Goa is an Indian state located on the West Coast of India stretching along the Arabian Sea and a solitary Portuguese outpost in India for almost 500 years. The airline revealed that it operates a total of 69 weekly flights from KL to India and guests planning to fly from other hubs like Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu can also connect to India with the Fly-Thru service via KL.
