Sept 13 sighting of new moon of Zulhijjah

KUALA LUMPUR: The sighting of the new moon of Zulhijjah to determine the date for Aidiladha will be held on Sunday, Sept 13 or 29 Zulkaedah, according to a statement from the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal.

The statement said, the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Datuk Syed Danial Syed Ahmad would announce the date for Aidiladha over radio and television on the same night.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah had agreed to the date for the sighting of the new moon of Zulhijjah following the consent of the Rulers, it added.

The Conference of Rulers has also agreed that the Rukyah and Hisab methods be followed to determine the date of Aidiladha.

The sighting of the new moon would be made from specific locations across the country.

The locations for Sarawak and Sabah are in Tanjung Lubang, Miri; Teluk Bandung, Kuching and Tanjung Batu, Bintulu, all in Sarawak; Balai Cerap Al-Biruni, Tanjung Dumpil in Sabah. — Bernama
