KOTA SAMARAHAN: A special concert brought by RTM shook The Summer Mall with music to ‘drown out’ the haze here on Saturday night.
The ‘Konsert Aktif 7’ managed to draw a crowd of 10,000 people, who flocked to the square outside the mall to enjoy performances not only from the nation’s popular artistes, but also from the national broadcaster’s radio announcers.
The concert kicked off at 8.30pm with a lineup of personalities from RTM’s seven radio stations in Angkasapuri, namely DJ Muaz and DJ Odey of Nasional.FM, DJ Mary of Traxx.FM, DJ Sonic of KLFM, DJ Ady of Radio Klasik, DJ Ravin of Minnal.FM, DJ Pei Yin from Ai.FM, DJ Linda of Asyik.FM; as well as RTM Kuching’s DJ AJ and DJ Shaza of Sarawak.FM, DJ Jeff of Red.FM, and DJ Felis of Wai.FM.
The performing line-up opened with Ally of AXL, who performed the band’s hits ‘Andai Dapat Ku Undur Masa’ and ‘Akulah Kekasihmu’ which received thunderous applause.
Ravin and Odey get the show going with their lively Bollywood songs.
Teen heart-throb Mark Adam came on stage later, entertaining the crowd with his popular numbers ‘Pencuri’ and ‘Marry Me’. The show continued with 6ixth Sense, who had fans singing along to their ‘7 Kali Malam Minggu’ and ‘Khatimah Cinta’.
Things got ‘heated up’ as the steamy ‘Comeback Queen of Dangdut’ Amelina raised the temperature with her hip-shaking breakthrough number ‘Rindu Ah Ah’, followed by her latest single ‘Cinta Harus Seksi’.
Petite Youtube-singing sensation Najwa Latiff, however, calmed the scene down later with her laid-back, soothing hit ‘Kosong’ and her latest song ‘Satu Hari Nanti’.
Homegrown pride Dayang Nurfaizah went up next, smiling and waving to her fans who presented her with a booming welcome. The award-winning Kuching-born songstress certainly did not disappoint them as she proceeded to deliver her mega chart-topping ballad ‘Di Pintu Syurga’, followed by her latest single ‘Tak Pernah Menyerah’.
Kristal really brought the house down after that, with their heart-thumping rendition of ‘Persoalan’ and ‘Pasti Sempurna’.
Their energetic showmanship really had the crowd on their feet and shouting the lyrics in excitement.

The spectators also got to see the other side of their favourite deejays, as the latter sang on stage.
DJ Jeff, DJ AJ, DJ Shaza and DJ Felis of RTM Kuching easily engaged the audience to sing and dance along to Andrewson Ngalai’s Iban hit ‘Bekikis Bulu Betis’, Frankie Valli’s ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’, and Inul Daratista’s ‘Goyang Inul’.
Ravin of Minnal.FM and Odey of Nasiona.FM together brough in some international flavour to the concert through their medley of Bollywood songs, while Odey of Nasional.FM, Sonic of KLFM and Ady of Radio Klasik belted out Republik’s ‘Selimut Tetangga’.
Odey, Ady and AJ of Sarawak.FM, together with members of Kristal, injected some patriotic spirit into the show through their rendition of Sudirman’s legacy hit ‘Warisan’.
Mary of Traxx.FM made her appearance after that, singing Jessie J’s ‘Flashlight’.
Pei Yin of Ai.FM came next, with her creative Malay-Mandarin mix of Saiful’s ‘Ku Juga Mencintaimu’.
Linda of Asyik.FM later gave the audience another round of ‘dangdut craze’ with her exhilarating performance of Cita Citata’s ‘Sakitnya Tuh Di Sini’.
Konsert Aktif 7 ended with a curtains-down finale by the artistes and deejays singing Faizal Tahir’s chart-topping hit ‘Gemuruh’, and this year’s National Day theme song ‘Sehati Sejiwa’.
Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang also attended the concert, accompanied by RTM Radio Programme Section director Dr Nawiyah Che Lah.
