Former prime minister visits Yinchuan waste water treatment plant

KUCHING: On September 11, 2015, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, together with Dato’ Dzulkifli, CEO of MATRADE and Tan Sri Dato’ Syed Jalaluddin Syed Salim of the Halal Industry Development Corporation Sdn Bhd, visited one of the four wastewater treatment plants owned and operated by the Taliworks Group in Yinchuan.

According to a press release, the former prime minister and his entourage were accompanied on a tour of the plant’s facilities by Ronnie Lim Yew Boon, executive director of Taliworks Corporation Berhad (Taliworks).

Being the biggest Malaysian investor in Ningxia, Taliworks has invested a total of 810 million yuan in four wastewater treatment plants in Yinchuan which currently handles about 85% of the total municipal wastewater in the city.

Recently, the Group invested a further RMB150 million to upgrade one of the plants and meet the highest effluent discharge standard in China as well as expand the said wastewater treatment plant’s capacity from 50MLD to 100 MLD.

This is the first wastewater treatment plant in the Ningxia Autonomous Region to be upgraded to China’s National Effluent Discharge Standard 1A.

Taliworks is currently listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia under the stock name TALIWRK and stock code 8524 with a market capitalisation of approximately RM1.520 billion as at September 14 2015.
