KUCHING: Some 40 youths attended the Strategy Development & Execution workshop organised by Malaysian Global Innovation and Creative Centre (MaGIC) at iCube Innovation Sdn Bhd here yesterday.

It was the third thematic workshop hosted by MaGIC – an agency under the federal Ministry of Finance – in Kuching to provide social enterprises in their growth stage with the skills and capabilities needed to multiply their business impact.

MaGIC’s Social Entrepreneurship (Ventures) portfolio manager Sharon Loo said the focus of the workshop this time was to train young entrepreneurs on how to strategise and execute these strategies to sustain their businesses.

“While social entrepreneurship is about doing good for society, it is also important that they are also able to compete, sustain and grow their businesses,” she told thesundaypost.

The one-day workshop was conducted by trainer Lee Ming Tiong, who has 34 years of working experience in the government, automotive industry, property and trading, banking and oil and gas sector.

Founder and chairman of iCube Dato Patrick Liew also dropped by briefly to talk to the participants and listen to the presentation.

MaGIC and iCube are scheduled to organise a fourth workshop themed Business & Finance Operations on Oct 24.

Meanwhile, iCube is also organising two Startup Weekend events in partnership with MaGIC soon at its premises at Icom Square for youths who are interested in starting an enterprise of their own.
