MIRI: It was a beautiful Sunday for Thomas Tang when he scored a hole-in-one at Hole No.1 at the 27th KGM Amateur Open (Men & Ladies) Golf Championship at Miri Golf Club (KGM).

He walked home with, nay drove home, a Toyota Camry Hybrid 2.5 liter sponsored by KGM president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Hong Nam and a Honda Jazz V Series sponsored by KGM captain Ivan Pui.

In the men’s 54-hole gross event, Lee Ka Tung from Sarawak Golf Glub (SGC) lifted the YBhg Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Hong Nam Challenge Trophy.

Meanwhile, the YBhg Datin Patinggi Puan Sri Datuk Lorna Enan Muloon Chan Challenge Trophy for the ladies event went to Alethea Cordelia of KGM.

Runner-up for the men was Lim Beng Keat (KGM) followed by Lau Ching Leong (Sibu Golf Club), Malcom Ting Siong Hung (KGM), Hassan Rahmat (KGM), Abdul Rahim Abang Abdul Rahman (SGC), Ramzee Manai (Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club), Mohamad Lokman Mustaffa (SGC) and Pg Adam Pg Atan (PMGC).

In second to fourth place for the women were Eliza Mae Kho (KGM), Mirabel Ting Ern Hu (KGM) and Agnes Hiu (PMGC).

KGM golfers – Aizat Muhamd Junaidi, Sim Kheng Kwang and Sia Langan – also collected the top three spots in the men’s 36-hole nett.

KGM’s Muren Wan and Lydia Huong finished as top two in the women’s nett event.

A total of 180 golfers took part in the championship from Sept 18-20.

They were representing Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club, Bintulu Golf Club, Labuan Golf Club, Miri Golf Club, Sarawak Golf Club, Sibu Golf Club, Malaysian Golf Association, Panaga Gof Club, Pantai Mentiri Golf Club and Sarawak Junior Golf First Association at the tournament.
