Huawei Malaysia has signed NOUs with Melaka ICT Holdings on information and communication technologies to contribute to the Malaysia Smart City initiative.
KUALA LUMPUR: Huawei Malaysia has signed notes of understanding (NOUs) with Melaka ICT Holdings on information and communication technologies to contribute to the Malaysia Smart City initiative.
“Innovative ICT infrastructure is fundamental to the digital restructuring of industries and the long-term, sustainable development of a better connected Smart Country,” Huawei chief executive officer, Abraham Liu, said in a statement yesterday.
He said with strong focus on digital inclusion, Malaysia has the potential to be a bellwether in sustainable Smart Country initiatives in ASEAN.
“Smart City is set to be the next milestone in Malaysia’s digital infrastructure development after the successful High-Speed Broadband project,” Liu said.
Meanwhile, Melaka ICT Holding Sdn BHd Deputy Chairman, Datuk Wizan Abdul Ghani, said the Smart City initiative was part of the bigger technology infrastructure and economic development blueprint in Malaysia.
“Leveraging on Huawei’s ICT industry expertise, cutting edge end-to-end security and innovative technology solutions and our local reach, we are set up for success in this endeavour,” he said. — Bernama
