KUCHING: Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) secretary-general Abdullah Julaihi yesterday announced certain changes in the Malaysia Cup fixtures.

The match between Sarawak and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) slated for Sept 26 has been changed to Oct 24.

FAS had applied for the match in Kuching to be on a Saturday.

But no date has been fixed yet for Sarawak’s away match against JDT.

Besides the Malaysia Cup, deputy president Datuk Mohd Abu Bakar Marzuki said FAS were also focusing on building the Sarawak Super League team for next season.

He expressed the hope that new coach Datuk K Rajagopal will have more choices of local players to choose from.

“Sarawak will have all the possibility to have big names in their team especially to strengthen further the squad and make it a more formidable team,” he added.

On next year’s Sukma, he said FAS have been tasked to ensure that the state football squad is ready with the objective to emerge as champions.
