KUCHING: A jobless man who pleaded not guilty to a robbery charge was released on bail pending the disposal of the case at the Sessions Court here yesterday.

Mohd Nazeem Mohd Zailani, 24, who appeared calm when his case was mentioned before Judge Amelati Parnell, allegedly robbed a teenage girl of her mobile phone by the roadside near a shop at Demak Laut in Jalan Bako here at around 10.30am on Aug 10.

The court fixed Oct 1 for the case to be mentioned again. The charge is framed under Section 392 of the Penal Code.

DPP Stella Augustine Druce prosecuted while Nazeem was not represented.

In a separate case, a man charged with voluntarily helping to dispose a stolen motorcycle will stand trial on Nov 12 and 13 at the Magistrates’ Court here.

The 24-year-old man Mohamad Fadrus Rizan Izuan Lim from Stapok Scheme in Batu Kawa pleaded not guilty to the offence which he allegedly committed at 12.20pm on Aug 10.

He is facing up to seven years in jail and also liable to a fine upon being convicted under Section 414 of the Penal Code.
