MIRI: Democratic Action Party (DAP) national publicity secretary Tony Pua is set to be deported back to Kuala Lumpur at 4.20pm today under the order of the State government and the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

“We are surrounded by Miri immigration chief and officers at Madli Restoran Lutong because they want to escort YB Tony Pua to go back to Kl. Urgent.” read a Whatsapp message from Piasau assemblyman Alan Ling to The Borneo Post this afternoon.

The Petaling Jaya Utara MP had arrived in Miri at 9.30am from Kuala Lumpur to officiate a DAP ‘Impian’ project at Kampung Pasir, Lutong.

When contacted by The Borneo Post, the CMO confirmed that Pua was in the state immigration department blacklist and that there were several reasons behind it including his defamation suit connected to 1MDB among others.

In July, the Malaysian Immigration Department had placed Pua on a travel blacklist banning the lawmaker from travelling overseas for which he since filed an application for a judicial review of the Immigration Department’s decision in August.
