KUCHING: State constituencies in Samarahan Division received 11 cows each from Samarahan Mosque Welfare Trust Board yesterday.

The sacrificial cows are for Muara Tuang, Asajaya, Sadong Jaya, Sebuyau and Simunjan state constituencies.

Assemblymen Dato Sri Mohamad Ali Mahmud (Muara Tuang), Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah (Asajaya) who is Assistant Minister of Youth Development, Aidel Lariwoo (Sadong Jaya), Datuk Julaihi Narawi (Sebuyau) who is Assistant Minister of Rural Development, and Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais (Simunjan) who is Assistant Minister of Resource Planning collected the sacrificial cattle from PPES Ternak.

Naroden said the distribution of cows during Hari Raya Haji is an annual event for the board.

“Last year the board contributed nine cows to each state constituency compared with 11 this time. They are giving 11 cows to five state constituencies in Samarahan division so the extra four heads will be given to Serian District,” he said.

He said the meat will be distributed and shared among the Muslim community to mark the sacrificial feast.

“The sacrificial cows we receive today are contributed by the board and apart from that we believe many individuals will also contribute, such as elected representatives and corporate figures,” he said.
