KUCHING: A man charged with robbery who admitted committing the offence had his plea rejected by the Sessions Court here yesterday.

Mohd Aizyril Fikzree Ahmin appeared before Judge Timothy Finlayson Joel who rejected his plea after the former told him that he understood the consequences if he admitted to the offence saying he was ‘told to do so’.

The judge subsequently fixed Oct 20 for further mention of the case while the trial will proceed from March 7 to 9 next year.

He was also released on RM10,000 bail with RM2,000 deposited with the court in two sureties pending disposal of the case.

Aizyril was also ordered to report to the police station every Monday until completion of his case.

He is charged with robbing a 7-Eleven convenient store in Kota Sentosa at about 2am on Aug 30.

He allegedly stole packets of cigarette, bottles of alcoholic drinks, sweets and drinking water.

He also threatened the staff during the commissioning of the crime. Robbery, under Section 392 of the Penal Code provides for up to 20 years’ jail, whipping and fine upon conviction.
