Zahid launches Sarawak Regatta as a ‘Race for Harmony’

KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi officially launched the Sarawak Regatta Kuching Waterfront Festival 2015 yesterday.

The Kuching Waterfront was full of life with various events held in conjunction with the official opening.

During the ceremony, community leaders representing the various races in the state presented a paddle as a memento to the guest of honour.

Among those present were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang, who represented Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg and State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohd Morshidi Abdul Ghani.

This year’s regatta themed ‘Race for Harmony’ began on Sept 18.

Former Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Norkiah are expected to grace the closing ceremony today at 2pm.
