State polls: PBB may field new faces from Youth, Wanita wings

KUCHING: PBB will be fielding several new faces in the 11th state elections, said its deputy president Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“Definitely we are going to field new faces, but as to the number, it is up to the Chief Minister (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem),” he told a press conference after representing Adenan to deliver a keynote address at the Third National Business and Economic Seminar 2015 here yesterday.

Abang Johari said fielding new faces in every polls was a form of ‘renewal process’ practised by the party, adding that the new faces this time around could include those from the Youth and Wanita wings.

“PBB is like that. We keep grooming people so that there is a renewal process. At the same time, the new leaders will be able to contribute new ideas because our government has to be dynamic.”

On another matter, Abang Johari rubbished a claim by the opposition that Adenan did not have the support from his cabinet in the state’s request for 20 per cent oil royalty from the federal government.

Abang Johari said contrary to what the opposition had claimed, Adenan had full support from all the state cabinet ministers.

“It is a collective decision (of the state cabinet). You know that the cabinet system is collective. He (Adenan) is the main spokesman (for the state’s 20 per cent oil royalty request) and there must only be one spokesman. If two people say different things, it may create confusion.”

He said there was a committee headed by State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohd Moshidi Abdul Ghani to negotiate with the federal government on the terms and conditions for this request.
