KUCHING: State Democratic Action Party (DAP) and state Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) look forward to forming Pakatan Harapan Sarawak.

Chairmen of both parties – Chong Chieng Jen (DAP) and Mohamad Fidzuan Zaidi (Amanah) – said the formation would proceed with discussion of the matter with state Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) during a press conference at DAP headquarters here today.

No leaders of PKR were present at the joint news conference.

Asked whether PKR would be on board the new opposition coalition, Chong said state PKR had made it clear that they wanted to join and form Pakatan Harapan Sarawak.

“They have already made their stand clear,” he said. However, he could not offer a time frame as to when the formation would take place.

Chong stressed that PAS was not a party to the new coalition, adding that what PAS had done in the past was completely unacceptable.

“Our participation in the formation of Pakatan Harapan Sarawak is on the condition that there shall not be any form of cooperation with or participation of any party which is not committed to the principles of governance by consensus and the stated ideals of the coalition.”

According to Chong, Pakatan Harapan Malaysia is in the progress of finalising the common policy framework.

He believed that once the common policy framework was ready, Pakatan Harapan Sarawak would be formed subsequently.

“Pakatan Harapan Sarawak must give hope to Sarawakians that we represent a new future. A coalition based on the principles of good and clean governance.”
