BDA signs deal on two projects with contractors

BINTULU: Two projects worth a total RM27,384,386.60 were signed between Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) and the two appointed contractors at Wisma Bintulu yesterday.

The first project signed with contractor Hock Seng Lee Berhad is the proposed government office and security office/entrance in Samalaju Industrial Park at a contract sum of RM20,998,000.

The project will be divided into two phases: the check point will be completed in eight months while the security office in 15 months.

The check point is scheduled for completion on May 30, 2016 while the security office on Dec 31, 2016.

The project handover and contract agreement signing ceremony was held on Thursday between BDA general manager Rodziah Morshidi and Hock Seng Lee Berhad managing director Dato Paul Yu Chee Hoe. Also present was its site manager Wong Liong Hung.

The second project signed with Syarikat Hing Hong Construction is the proposed RM6,386,386.60 pedestrian bridge linking Medan Jaya and Assyakirin Commercial Square, Block 31 in Kemena Land District.

The project to be carried out within the contract period of six months is scheduled for completion on April 4, 2016. The project handover is on Oct 5, 2015.

The scope of work includes a pedestrian bridge approximately 90 metres long and six metres wide. It will have two platforms of 700 sq metres each and a bus bay.

Representing the company at the contract signing ceremony was its manager Wong Hung Sing and site manager Hii Tau Lee. Rodziah hoped the two contractors would carefully observe the contract periods to avoid any delay in completing the projects.

Among those present were BDA deputy general manager Mohd Bohari Kipli, BDA secretary Siti Aishah Othman, head of government departments and local community leaders.
