MIRI: Almost all students in Fajar International College (FIC) who are from Belaga District have benefited under the Bakun Charitable Trust’s Scholarship and Study Loan programme.

FIC is one of the institutions of higher education which students from Belaga District are eligible to apply for this scheme. The college has remained as one of the top choices for Belaga students to further their education.

Officers from Bakun Charitable Trust, Christine Kimhin and Catherine Pua, when handing over the application forms to assistant FIC marketing manager David Jok during the education exhibition held at Sungei Asap multi-purpose hall in conjunction with the Apau Koyan Fest 2015, encouraged future students from Belaga District to apply for the fund.

As an institution which has gained approval from Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), all FIC’s diplomas have gained full accreditation from Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA).

This ensures that diplomas earned at FIC are fully recognised by government, private sectors, local and foreign universities, and also by various relevant departments and professional bodies.

FIC’s anchor programme, the Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health (DipOSH), is the only one in this region which is MOHE approved, MQA accredited, recognised by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Malaysia, and gains international recognition from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), UK, simultaneously.

This is a very important factor for aspiring students to take into careful consideration, because only DOSH approved Diploma in OSH can qualify holders to get their Green Book from DOSH after they have gained their three years working experience.

The Green Book is a mandatory ‘passport’ for OSH personnel to practise in Malaysia as Safety and Health Officer (SHO).

FIC’s Diploma in Accounting is another unique program. As the only MQA accredited Diploma in Accounting here, it enables students to gain three qualifications through one single programme: Certified Accounting Technician qualification from Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (CAT-ACCA ), UK; Diploma in Accounting; and with additional sitting for 4 final papers, they can qualify for Association of International Accountant, UK (AIA) Professional Qualification which is recognised as an honours degree equivalent by the Public Services Department (JPA).

For students who are business-oriented, they can opt for FIC’s Diploma in Business Studies, which is widely accepted by the industries for various openings in marketing, sales, administration, operation etc.

The Diploma in Human Resource Management (DHRM) is also another quality programme being offered at FIC. This is the only DHRM programme of local Institution which has gained accreditation from MQA.

It covers various aspects in human resources practice such as the legal framework, recruitment, training and development, HR management, to name a few. Graduates can easily fit in any position in the human resource department in any organisation.
