Haze: Education Ministry will decide whether school days need to be replaced

GEORGE TOWN: The Ministry of Education will decide whether schools that closed due to haze need to replace their school days, says Deputy Education Minister P.Kamalanathan.

“There are two things to be considered, whether it was a holiday or schools were instructed to be closed. If it was a holiday it needs to be replaced, if instructed to be closed than the school days may not be replaced.

“However, I have informed the Education Minister, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, who will issue a statement on this matter soon,” he told reporters after closing

the 2015 National Robotics Competition at Universiti Sains Malaysia here yesterday.

Several schools in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and Sarawak had to be closed

following Air Pollutants Index (API) readings reaching the unhealthy level. — Bernama
