KOTA KINABALU: A man claimed trial at a Magistrate’s Court here yesterday to molesting a woman.
Mohd Hazmeruul Yusop, 23, who appeared before magistrate Mohd Faiz Omar, faces a charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail of 10 years and whipping and also liable to a fine upon conviction.
The accused allegedly hugged the victim and touched her left breast on the first floor stairs of a building at Segama here on July 19.
The court fixed October 15 this year for case management and released the accused on RM3,000 bail with two local sureties, pending disposal of the case.
Meanwhile, in another Magistrate’s Court, 23-year-old Ali Zainal Abidin Sapar pleaded not guilty to threatening his wife by burning all her clothes in a house at a squatter area at Jalan Penampang at 11am on September 27.
The accused, who was defended by counsel Dominic Chew, was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code which is punishable by a maximum jail of 10 years and also liable to a fine, upon conviction.
Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus reserved October 21 this year for case management and the accused was granted RM3,000 bail with RM1,500 deposited with two local sureties.
